A love for Tango starts with passionate people

Oh sure- you’ve heard all the stories of how tango is the secret dance of lovers and romance, but we assure you it’s a bit more than that. Like most natives to St. Louis, all of our creative team members are proud Argentinian-Americans at heart. Allow us to introduce to you our founding members bringing you closer to the Gateway Tango experience.

I’m the website editor and also contribute to various articles you’ll find throughout this site. Even as a young kid, I felt that Milongas were as important as birthdays and even holidays. And perhaps this is why I feel I have such a deeply rooted devotion to Tango. It’s part of our culture and I’m thrilled that St. Louis is proud to keep it going so strong.

When I was still in my early teens, I was already dancing Tango. After that I enjoyed it so much to start teaching classes for people who wanted to learn. As a teacher, you obviously learn the history of how things happened, and I like to contribute much of that to the stories found here. I hope my personal experiences help you also to feel the impact it has made on me.

Magdalene Torres

I’m not exactly a gossip queen, but there is always a story behind all those juicy headlines you read online. I’m contributing new and exciting spins on how we view Tango throughout greater St. Louis. After all, there are very interesting reasons why it’s become bigger over the years and I’m eager to bring those stories to you soon enough.

Victorino Ramirez

How deep has Tango embedded itself into everyday culture? You might be surprised. My training is profoundly odd since I studied as a Psychologist- yet at the last minute decided to switch majors to political science. Tango itself finds its’ way into the strangest of places, and I put those observations into the articles contributed here.

As we continue to grow, we invite your comments and thoughts likewise. If it’s about Tango, we want to know. Or just write to us- so we know we’re doing it right.
